Faux Silk Technique

Today I tried a new technique, the Faux Silk Technique. I have actually never seen a sample of this technique, but had read about it some time ago. So I thought I'd give it a try. Here are the basic instructions:

1. Stamp image(s) on white tissue.
2. After the image is dry gently wad up the tissue.
3. Open up the tissue (being careful not to tear it) and slightly flatten it.
4. Cut a piece of white or ivory cardstock to fit behind the stamped image.
5. Coat the card stock completely with white glue.
6. Press the tissue on to the coated card stock. Smoothing over it to eliminate any air bubbles underneath.
7. Leave the tissue overlapping a 1/4" around the edges of the cardstock.
8. Turn the cardstock over and put a small amount of glue around the edges. Fold the tissue onto the back of the cardstock, leaving a clean edge of tissue all around the edge of the cardstock.
9. Allow to dry before mounting on your project.

Below are a couple more examples. This technique is hard to show in a photograph, but if you click on one of the photos here you can take a closer look.
