As I was uploading this photo today it occurred to me that I always seem to work in twos. I'm not sure what's up with that. But anyway, here's a couple of (yes, two) cards I finished today.
The background, behind the silhouette images, was created by using stippling brushes. On the blue background I started with Whisper White card stock and stippled Not Quite Navy Classic Stampin' ink on the upper half of the paper. Then I stippled Night of Navy at the top and bottom. On the orange background I stippled Summer Sun and Pumpkin Pie inks on the top half and Garden Green at the bottom. Then I stamped the silhouette image in Versamark and heat embossed using black embossing powder.
I must confess, I started out intending to brayer the background. I have been admiring the brayered effects that Michelle Zindorf creates. (Check out her blog at: http://zindorf.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/) But I guess I need more practice with a brayer because I'm never happy with my results. So I went back to using a stippling brush. I always have better results stippling.
As for the "spattered" effect on the bottom layer, it was created by spraying the card stock with bleach. Cool huh? I always love this effect. I have used it on lots of cards. It gives an instant vintage, shabby chic, grunge, whatever you want to call it look.
Thanks for looking!

very cool! i always forget about using bleach until i see someone do it again. i have stamped with it and used it in an aqua painter, but have never sprayed it. sounds dangerous! lol..for me anyway.
Amazing! I love this and want to try it tonight.

Good luck with the contest! Any news?
