Cards with Ranger Alcohol Inks

This past weekend I finally had a chance to play with some alcohol inks I bought at a rubber stamp show way back in March (see March 9th post). And here are some cards I finished. Click on them to take a closer look.

The hardest part was taking photos of them. In person they are really beautiful (if I do say so myself) but it is next to impossible to get a good photograph of them. They look really different depending on how the light hits them. The colors are very vivid and the metallics are highly reflective, which is the reason you don't need much other embellishment on your cards when you are using them.

If you have, or plan to buy, any of these inks I highly recommend purchasing one of Tim Holtz' DVD's. He helped develop these inks for Ranger and has some excellent tips on how to use them. His DVD's, produced by Page Sage, are titled An Altered Journey and The Journey Continues.

As for the stamp images I used, the Grecian Face is from Judikins. The "Always" definition on the same card is from the Define Your Life set in the current Spring/Summer collection from Stampin'Up! The Goldfish is from Paper Inspirations. And the dragonfly and the butterfly are from a retired Stampin'Up! set call Wonderful Wings. I haven't used anything from the Wonderful Wings set for awhile, but it has always been one of my favorite sets.

Well, I'm off now to plan something for my next video tutorial. I hope to have something posted by the end of the week - so be sure to check back soon.
