I'm still not sure if I'm happy with the results, but at least I'm not feeling so wasteful. I'm blaming my current creative "bankruptcy" on all the gloomy financial news in the media this week. I don't know about you, but I'm getting really tired hearing all these politicians running around claiming "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!" But hey, we all got up this morning and guess what? The sky hasn't fallen.
Then it was off to do some banking. Yes, I bank at Washington Mutual. You may have heard of it.... "the largest bank to fail in U.S. history." I felt so bad for the teller that helped me. She's usually so friendly, but today she looked like she was having a really rotten day.
I was putting my wallet away as I was leaving the bank and realized I had a couple of cards I had put in my purse to show to a friend later. I pulled one out, scribbled a silly note, and dropped it back by the teller's window. As I left this time I looked back over my shoulder and saw that the teller had a big smile on her face as she read the card. I know this is a little corny, but it is so cool to make someone smile with a card.
So I say, go forth in these uncertain times and send someone a smile!

I love how you salvaged your scraps! The pieced papers look wonderful. Just like a sheet you might by that was arranged so pleasing to the eye.
I've bought some great Halloween napkins I'm hoping to make some cards out of with your technique. And one with a faerie too! Now to just do it!
I really like your blog.

I really like those cards! I read yesterday that CitiGroup bought out Wachovia (where I bank) and then went up to the drive-thru yesterday afternoon. I was wondering how those people felt working in there and wish I had a card with me at the time! I'm sure that teller needed your words on that card and it probably made her day a bit more bearable. TFS!
I love your cards... reminds me of a quildt my Grandma use to have! I am sure you made that tellers day by giving her a hand-made card. I imagine that the people working in the banks are a little nervous about their futures too!
Have U been watching me. I did the very same thing Now U make me want to go dig mine out! But They would not turn out as pretty as yours..That was so nice of you to do that to that teller she will never forget it.. I bet she was even happier It didnt say STICK EM UP!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAA
sorry I just had too..:O)
Hugs
I love your cards made with the salvaged scraps. They are beautiful, as are you for making that teller smile. That is a wonderful idea, to have some "Just Because" cards on hand & to use them randomly to lift the spirits of others.

You go Michelle! Congrats to you on making your bank teller day....how sweet. You have set the bar high for each of us to Go Forth...and live our dreams! Thanks for making a difference. Kadie
that is so cool making someelse's day since they was having a bad and it wasn't their fault either. even a simple card can make a smile on face.
Michelle, you are so kind! I like your story about giving a card with a smile! I also think that cards with some words inside can make your day! Your idea to use the scraps of the paper is so clever! I love your cards! They look like quilted cards! Very pretty cards!
What a thoughtfully spontaneous thing to do. I love the way you used your scraps--looks like patchwork!
Love your blog--it's one of the few I have bookmarked and check it regularly for your great tutorials!
