More Alcohol Ink Samples

Last week was Spring Break here for the elementary schools. My Son and I went out town to visit my Sister and her family so I didn't spend any time 'crafting.' I had planned though, once we returned home over the weekend, to crank out a bunch of projects using alcohol inks. I wanted to share them with you here and possibly use them as display samples for my Alcohol Inks workshops. But what is it they say about the best laid plans?

My daughter came down with Mono last week and I have been so distracted worrying about her that I didn't get much done towards my goal. I am happy to report though, that she (my daughter) is starting to make a slow, but steady recovery. And yesterday I had a chance to finish these projects.

I purchased this glass vase at Michael's and then applied alcohol inks to it. The dragonfly medallion was made by using the faux metal technique.

Here are a few dominoes I have covered with alcohol inks. As you can see I added a few embellishments to some of them. They aren't quite finished. I'll probably add pin backs to some, turn some into pendents, and use the rest as embellishments for other projects. I haven't worked with dominoes for a while. There are really fun to craft with. They're like miniature canvases and can be used in so many different ways. (Hint: this is a warning, you may be seeing more very soon.)

Well, I hope you enjoy seeing my creative endeavors for the week. Have a wonderful weekend.

Love the Vase and Dominios. Wish I was close enough for your class. Do you have to put a sealent over the inks on the glass or will the inks alone stand up to the vase being used as a vase with water and plants or is this strictly decorative.

From the photo this vase and all the color looks like handblown glass. Amazing!

Hi Jean, Thank you for all the nice comments.

I did spray an acrylic sealer on the vase and dominoes. Yes,the vase can be used with water, but I plan to hand wash it to prevent the alcohol inks from getting scratched off in the dishwasher.

So neat, great projects, I haven't tried it on domino's yet, but a month ago I took a set of plain pink plastic bathroom toothbrush holder and soap dish that had started losing it's color and not looking so hot and I used the inks on them and I just loved the results! Saved me money on going out and buying a new set!

Hey Connie, you should email me a photo. I'd love to see how they turned out.

It's been awhile since I've been on your blog and I have missed seeing your work. The vase is just gorgeous and the dominoes I have never worked with, looks just beautiful...I don't have alcohol inks but you make me wanna try it out :)

First, I hope your daugher gets better soon. Both my girls got it (3 years apart). The oldest got really sick and ended up in the hospital due to dehydration, the other had a much milder case. It mostly just takes time amd rest and lots of fluids.
I love that vase, and the dominoes inspire me to get mine out (purchased MANY years ago) and try to actually make something with them. Take care
