Hi, My name is Michelle and I'm an Alcohol Inkoholic.....

Are you all tired of seeing my alcohol ink projects yet? I hope not, because I have more to share with you today. Some of you are probably thinking that I have become a little obsessed with alcohol inks lately. Well, ...you'd be right. I have been teaching some classes in alcohol ink techniques. As a result I have a surplus of alcohol ink backgrounds I created in class. I can't bring myself to throw them away, so I've been turning them into cards and tags. Here are a few of my favorites.

In other news, my daughter is feeling much better and is back at school. (She came down with mono a couple of weeks ago.) So hopefully I'll have time in the next couple of weeks to get some tutorials made and posted. Don't worry, I promise to make them "non-alcoholic."

More Alcohol Ink Samples

Last week was Spring Break here for the elementary schools. My Son and I went out town to visit my Sister and her family so I didn't spend any time 'crafting.' I had planned though, once we returned home over the weekend, to crank out a bunch of projects using alcohol inks. I wanted to share them with you here and possibly use them as display samples for my Alcohol Inks workshops. But what is it they say about the best laid plans?

My daughter came down with Mono last week and I have been so distracted worrying about her that I didn't get much done towards my goal. I am happy to report though, that she (my daughter) is starting to make a slow, but steady recovery. And yesterday I had a chance to finish these projects.

I purchased this glass vase at Michael's and then applied alcohol inks to it. The dragonfly medallion was made by using the faux metal technique.

Here are a few dominoes I have covered with alcohol inks. As you can see I added a few embellishments to some of them. They aren't quite finished. I'll probably add pin backs to some, turn some into pendents, and use the rest as embellishments for other projects. I haven't worked with dominoes for a while. There are really fun to craft with. They're like miniature canvases and can be used in so many different ways. (Hint: this is a warning, you may be seeing more very soon.)

Well, I hope you enjoy seeing my creative endeavors for the week. Have a wonderful weekend.

My Pyramid (or What I Made this Weekend)

I thought I'd share with you a project I made this weekend. It's one of those "just because" projects. No special occasion, I just had the idea in my head and wanted to give it a go.

I started with some card stock that I spritzed with bleach. Then, through a series of trail and error, I figured out a way to cut and fold it into a pyramid shape. I'm sure there's probably a template somewhere out there on the internet, but I made mine by tracing a square and a triangle shape onto the card stock. To my amazement, it turned out pretty well. Following are a few more photos of it from different angles. (Click on any photo for a closer look.)

Thanks for indulging me.

Announcing My Alcohol Inks 101 Workshops

Just wanted to draw your attention to the column on the right. If you scroll down you'll find I have added a list of dates I am teaching an alcohol inks techniques class at the Tall Mouse in Yorba Linda, California. This class is going to be lots of fun. Learn simple techniques that make it easy to look like a real artiste! (If you'd like to see some projects using alcohol inks click here.)

Swing Cards

I have a fun project to share with you today, Swing Cards. These cards are almost as fun to make as they are to receive. Here is the how-to video.

Here is a guide with the measurements (start with a 5" x 7" piece of cardstock.) Just click on any of the photos below for a closer look.

And here are photos of the cards I showed in the video.

If you are interested in learning how to make the background I made in the card above here is the direct link to the tutorial on my blog. It is called Faux Marble with Metallic Markers.

Enjoy!
