Leaving on a Jet Plane

Hi Everyone. I'm busy packing today for a trip to Eastern Europe with my Mom. We leave tomorrow. I will be gone for a couple of weeks, so you won't be seeing any new posts from me for a while. But I did make something today.... a couple of luggage tags for my bags. Aren't they cute? I made them with some designer series paper (Urban Garden) and the Lovely Letters stamp set from Stampin'Up! Looking forward to sharing some photos with you when I return. Take care.

Magic Cards

Last night I got together with a few of my stamping buddies and we made magic cards. Here is a quick peek at the two cards we made.

If you want to make your own magic cards you can find instructions over in the resources section on splitcoaststampers.com (link here.) They are a little challenging to make the first time, but they are so fun to share. The stamp sets we used are both retired Stampin'Up! sets: Knobbly Gnomes and Classic Pickups.

Have a creative day!

How to Construct a Pyramid

After my April 15th post (link here), many of you out there in blog land wrote to me asking how I made my pyramid. So I put together this short video tutorial. Luckily they are much easier to construct than the ancient Egyptian pyramids. I hope you have fun making your own.

Additional note:
I know many of you asked for a template. Instead of working from a template you have to download or copy, enlarge, and then trace out on a piece of card stock, I find it easier (and I get better results) when I make my own templates. Make your square and triangle out of a heavy card stock or card board and you can use it over and over again.

This is a quick and easy project using the new Wisteria line from Basic Grey. It's a clipboard and pencil cup. It makes a perfect teacher's gift or just a fun way to "dress up" your desk.

My First Beeswax Collage

Do you ever hesitate trying a new medium? I do. For some time now I have been planning to try making a beeswax collage, but just hadn't gotten around to it. I think my problem is that I always want things to come out perfect the first time. It must be a form of perfectionism. I collect the supplies, peruse books and articles on the subject, sketch out ideas; sometimes for weeks. I'm afraid to take the "plunge," just in case I don't get it quite right. What starts out as excitement to try something new, becomes an intimidating task. Silly isn't it? Well, this week I finally made my first beeswax collage. While I'm not really happy with the finished piece, at least now I can move on. So here's to pushing thorough mental roadblocks, stretching your creative wings, and trying something new!
